Old Business
John Corcoran and Wife should get free dinner and t-shirs for being guest of honor. Grotto has 63 members. Plus others. Suggest printing at least 100 t-shirts. Need to set a dinner price, even if we have no caterer yet. Perhaps $35-$40, including wine, beer, commemorative glass.
- Date will be Sept. 20th, at the Natl. Atomic Museum.
- 6-7 social hour.
- Dinner starts at 7
- Have a slide show running during social hour
Pecos
River is fast. Access is unlikely until July. Still trying to arrange access through private land for private cave inventory. He still mentions $$. Negotiation for non $$ is delayed, for fear of precluding $$. Perhaps negotiate reconnaissance for free, and deliver report for $$?
Graffitti Removal
Nothing yet. Next month will have presentation on Sandia Cave cleanup project.
Ft. Stanton
New T-shirt is out. No running or standing water in main right now. Snowy river was significantly expanded last weekend. Sam worked dig. Going down to bedrock to anchor culvert. John Lyles investigated some "skylights" into snowy river. Crystal Creek was flowing. Water samples were taken. Water team surveyed 480', Snowy River north. Donald Davis' team surveyed 1300' in Snowy river south. Still going. 7 hour approach. 7 hour of survey. Lots of time changing clothes clean/dirty/clean/dirty... Penny Boston's samples were washed around. Flagging from last year was covered in calcite! About 40 on trip. Expecting 60-70 in the coming week. Dianna has a HS student looking for DNA in manganese-oxide deposits. There were some pools standing in Snowy river, but mostly dry. Jim Cox did a new Ft. Stanton video.
