skinner
lee has a new cave with a lake in wet season, side canyon to tijeras. 2.5 years ago location was given to the grotto. (blake, victor...) Seems to not have had visitors, until perhaps this weekend. bear s&#t lake cave? lone bat cave?
there is a sink, meteor crater?. many bear den shaped holes near rim. lee has GPS. (near tree spring?)
There is a "lead" cave down off crest. nearby is a flat limestone outcrop, 50' across. top of cliff. There is a hole under a bush, 20' down hole into what appears to be a cave. Lee has not rapelled into it. lee has that gps too.
Geology is odd there. Lee would like to have somebody with geology experience look at these.
fred knows of 3-5 leads, not far off 40 on the 14 side. some may be more toward sedillo hill.
meeting
sat am. we need to have our plan of potential activities ready to present at the meeting. need leaders for trips.
sat nite
should we try to show a movie? we may get access to a building to use. ray will bring gear just in case we want to watch something.
do a pot luck sat. night.
nighttime temps can get into 40's. expect 50's. rain is possible.
50th
expecting close to 50 people. less than 50, room rent is too high. we will have a plan B if attendance is low. With $900 donation from grotto, 50 people is break even. More than 50, grotto may pay less than $900.
will have a silent auction. bring nice items to donate.
Emily (Speleobooks) has items to donate for door prizes.
will have more meetings after regional for final preparations.
try to dress nice. business casual or better.
ft. stanton
after the flooding in the area, snowy river is full and flowing. main passage remains dry. 4.1 miles surveyed in snowy river now. headed for sierra blanca. Expect another 5-12 miles. They stopped in a 50' passage. ft. stanton now over 13 miles? record by john lyles, a bit over 3 hours crawl to get out. most people take 7 hours to get there. blm does not allow camping, so trips are long. sam has report. 7-8 major side leads, not yet checked. Snowy river is now underneath devil's canyon road. footprint of stanton now longer than lech.
