Old Bus

  • Secretary -- no comment.
  • Treas 3069.64, some in paypal, total 3152.46 total.

Robert Grubbs asked about perhaps getting some sponsors for a walk, as fund raiser. Death march conflicts with SWR this year.

Carl Pagano suggested selling food at auction (always does well). Food always does well at auction. Food could be problematic at a restauraunt. Any food sales, if possible, will need to stay sealed. Cannot bring outside food to a restauraunt. Health code violation. May consider off-site for auction, so we can have more space, perhaps food.

Events

Spring Regional

Jennifer Boyette list e-copy of old pamphlet. Might be easier to re-create. Will work from old hardcopy. Would be nice to leave some at the Copper Lounge, that mentions that we meet last monday, and invite people. Perhaps at REI and/or ski resort. May be nice to give some to Zia, other pueblos who may allow us to do some reconnaissance on their land. Justin agreed to help.

We should try to collect hi-q art for working media. Please send copies of any production art to Justin and/or aaron if you have them.

We may have copies of paphlet sent on e-mail list. Please check your archived mail.

Science Fair

Last year Sherie and Rose handled Cave Prize. It was $100 senior, $50 junior (middle School) Children need to be accompanied by parent or Guardian at Copper, so for winners to present they will need to bring a Guardian.

Science fair is usually when UNM has its spring break. It is likely to be before next meeting. We will need to organize judges before the meeting if we are to give our prize. Linda will lead effort. Robert had contact info for the science fair to arrange passes/prizes.

Knutt will e-mail about week-long work trip coming up.

New Business

Appoint some new chairs:

  • conservation -- robert grubbs
  • greeter -- Jennifer, linda, sam, carol.

Zach, 28, was a bit put off by us seeming to be an old-boys club.

Lyon's club greeters always sat with and talked to any new people who show up at meetings.

Could/should start more recruitment at UNM. Mountineering club? Gym? Geology?

Perhaps set up a FaceBook page? MySpace? Katie O'Connol will set up MySpace and e-mail the membership.

Conservation

Robert is watching you! Cave softly. Stay between the lines. Send conservation info to Robert for monthly conservation report

Vertical

Kevin provided a facility, fork-lifts and food. We will need a smaller session for beginners, to give them the attention they need. Perhaps review knots and rigging at a meeting.

do it next month.

For vertical beginners, 2-3 people, with gear for all beginners. So we can have them all work on putting gear on at the same time, not sharing gear. Could use assistance so each beginner can have a helper getting their gear on.

Katie needs a seat harness to borrow. Kevin misplaced a small harness with indian motif on it. let him know if you find it.

Librarian

Knutt is doing it now.

I think Blake has instruments. Aaron would like them for Convention. (and Expidition afterwards)

Look into getting inexpensive whitewater helmets for beginners, and lights. Perhaps 6 kits for beginner trips.

If you have gear to lend, let Knutt know. He will keep a list in the library, so people can be contacted. Perhaps keep a list in the members are of the WWW site. Consider buying grotto gear. deposit? small rental fee? could be liability issues to consider.

Robert Grubbs is on the Natl. conserv list now.

There used to be a grotto trip coordinator, who put together trips that were not necessarily work trips associated with another project. Will table to next meeting.
