Intro & Trip reports

• Aaron -- no trips
• Keefer -- alabaster. wants to go to belize in march. will be working midnight terror. will present work at UNM in matrch. anthro. student union.
• george -- no caving
• Jaquie -- trying to get involved.
• duke -- no caving since last summer. will be free sundays soon.
• james -- no caving lately.
• ray -- radio location in north ariz. after thanksgiving. antennas were very close. will allow a 3rd entrence, saving an hour to get to the back of the not2speakOf arizona cave. White dragon, 1 mile from other one. Rich Bowman was planning to finish survey in nov, but they found a new lead. very big room. sandia prep work. will not happen until march, at least.
• Jennifer Boyette -- no caving. but try "the grotto" italian in richmond , VA
• joe -- went camping by hot springs in Jemez, after xmas. san-antonio
• carl p-- no caving. recovering from neck surgery, ready to cave.
• ira -- elmap. went to dead cooper crack. mapped cave. ira's first survey.
• rose g -- went on elmap trip. helped get ray's truck un-stuck.
• knutt -- no caving recently
• dan -- was on elmap trip without ray (car trouble) surveyed small cave near cougar crack. still a lead in lava crack. 20' drop in darkness.
• deb -- on trip with dan. pulling ray's truck out.
• linda starr -- also on elmap trip without ray. went to SWR tech in midland.
• Judsen Finley -- no caving lately. new to grotto. will do program.
• pat oconnel -- no caving 6-8 months. lots of digging small holes in minnesota.
• ron -- no caving. looked at some holes on rez
• robert grubs -- no caving
• nathan -- no caving. bilbo will take bill murry's position

• -- new person. worked on rock shelters geomorphologist. works with judsen.
• shoshana? -- another friend of judsen. did some stuff near mexico, as a child in mexico city.

New 2009 officers

• aaron - secretary -- started at Georgia Tech, 1989
• deb rivera -- treasurer. caving for 14 years. started with dan. likes projects. have been working f-fisure for some 10 years.
• knutt peterson -- vice chair. occational caver long time. got serious about 3 years ago when joined grotto and did work on geography degree with cave mapping. went to chile and easter island for nasa last summer. Just started with BLM in Santa Fe doing GIS work, non cave-related.
• kevin lormes -- caving since age 6. annual family trips. Athens speliological society (assers). NY grotto. here 3 years. works many weekends, caves often on mondays. want to do vertical training in feb, soon.

treas report

$1960 balance. xmas party went well. made $105 profit, to grotto coffers, largely to kevin's in-kind donations.

check list. those in red are very overdue. other hilighted due recently or soon.

feb 6-8. same campsite as last 2-3 trips. contact kevin or blake for map. Let Blake know if you plan to attend. Could be some vertical. bring gear. M7 needs survey. Corn sink.

WWW site had e-mail address, but info was not set on grotto list server. As of yesterday, it should have been updated.

doing some work, besides digging bear manhole. e-mail steve peerman to find out about projects at spring regional. march 26-29. can go early to do science trips.

feb 9. monday, Santa Ana Star Center. After gypkap trip. could be last one at auditorium. make it if you can.

some info is out of date. Jennifer will work on updating this. could use help.

xmas card distribution. they went out. inverted zia symbol was replaced with SWR due to political concerns.

need high-clearance to get to top of road, 4wd not absolutely necessary

looking for grotto members to share special skills.

• knutt -- grotto librarian. try to get a list published.
• grubbs -- conservation chair. try to stay current on conservation issues.
• scott christianson and jeff -- will be vertical coordinators. try to set up some beginner, intermed, and advanced vert training.

Graphitti Removal Project

Ray has updated respirator forms. no longer need pulmonary test. don't need form for dust mask. some work dust mask may be sufficient.

Joint Hazard Assessment update filed for sandblasting. will not happen in feb. perhaps march. perhaps april. equipment is in town. Kevin, ron, and carol tested equipment.

need surface and underground people. surface volunteers do not need forms.

2009 nss

price goes up jan 31. $250 now. will be $275 in feb. July 19-26. kerville, TX.

we plan on a SWR compound.
