2:PM thurs, fish and wildlife requested no caving in NE. KY on up. due to white nose. 7 preserves are closed.
SWR did a donation to the NSS white nose syndrome fund. Used mostly for gas re-imbursement, and lab fees assisting in data gathering. caves.org has a place for donations.

donate $400 to NSS white nose fund. seconded. Amended to $500. seconded. Passed by show of hands. $500 will be donated to the NSS white nose fund.
graphitti removal
sandia removal by sandblasting has been canceled, due to fears of removal of historical markings. AZ has been notified that gear will be available. Ray has $500 spe was there, and will consider other removal methods, but it was on budget for 2009, may not happen.
Recommend: get formal response from SHPO?. investigate alternatives.
science fair
carol bob and linda judged on mar. 20. found a few on corrosion residue. one got a prize, but we missed it. A middle schooler did anthodites. Queen of Heaven catholic. Prize was awarded in part for encouragement of farther work, she had good potential, and could be helped by contact with grotto professionals if she decides to pursue next year.

penny and dianna presention on villa de la luz. little new. extremophiles. they did 1 hr q&a.
trip coordinator
any volunteers? not many grotto trips now, we could use trips outside of projects. perhaps try to designate at least one grotto trip a month. It could be just grotto participation in another project.
Linda starr declined to volunteer for the post. Dan proposed forming a committee.

auction
lee skinner will not be available to be auctioneer next month. Ray railroads Kevin to be auctioneer. seconded my many.
If we stay at copper, we cannot consume any food items at auction. Any consumables auctioned should be in packages, and NOT opened on premesis.
Problem: Last monday of April conflicts with a Ft. Stanton work project.
We will stay here at copper for auction at regular time anyway.

We had no officers at regional to officially assume responsibility for next Winter tech. We need to contact SWR to inform them that we do, indeed, intend to sponsor the new winter tech.

coming up soon. plan to open new visitors center. ansel adams cave photos, and other cave art, will be exhibited. oct. 25. perhaps we can plan a grotto trip to the guads. perhaps on NPS property. trips sat. go to exhibit sun.

today pres. obama signed protection for snowy river, bilbo will be in charge.

jen collected some older versions. new one built in power point. could use some new photos. contact juddsen.

memorial day revional will be at Ft. Stanton. Later will look for Pinion cave, near Cloudcroft.

Judson previewed new brochure. he plans to e-mail it out for review. asking for photos. try to have them ready for convention. Judson is gone may 1. his part needs to be done before then.
Scott on Mexico
Went with some other OK cavers. Aquismon, off of east coast plane. Big pits. Wet jungle area, over limestone. Mike Walsh from TX, is building a house 45 minutes from golondrinas. Can be made available to cavers.
Culture was (at least influenced by the) Maya near there.

preactical knots. easy to tie. sinch. easily untied. Bowline is not a favorite, because it can be messed up, and sometimes hard to see if it is bad.
